In 2015 Elie Schonfeld launched Artelli Gallery, one of the youngest in galleries in Antwerp. The building in which Artelli is situated used to be a bank office, offering 130 m2 space for Artelli’s rotating expositions. The floor beneath the ground floor, the former safe, offers another 80 m2 for Artelli’s permanent artists. With Artelli, Ellie not only created a place where he can share his passion for art with other aesthetes and art-lovers. With the support of two passionate assistants, Greet Umans and Valerie Delacave, his gallery also allows everyone to experience the many forms and dimensions in which art can be experienced. Within all these different disciplines, Artelli not only exhibits known names but also younger artists can be discovered here. Geographically, the gallery maintains a broad focus by working together with many international artists, galleries and art fairs.
Last year, Artelli opened a second exposition space in the Rivoli building, situated on the border between Elsene and Ukkel. For quite a while, the building seemed to be marked for death. However, after successful renovations, Rivoli is on its way to become Brussels’ most important center for contemporary art. This architectural gem brings together several galleries, promoting artistic cross-pollination. Moreover, the Rivoli visitors, composed of artists, passersby and art-lovers, is fully in line with what Artelli aims for: diversity and accessibility.
