Tranen

Tranen is Gentofte Municipality´s exhibition venue for contemporary art and is located at Gentofte Main Library.

Tranen is a legendary exhibition platform for groundbreaking art on the experimental contemporary art scene. Every year, 4–5 exhibitions – both solo and group exhibitions – primarily by younger, professional artists from Denmark and abroad.

Gentofte Main Library was built in 1985 and designed by architect Henning Larsen. With its characteristic white niche-shaped exhibition space of 110m2, Tranen is a unique space for art with balcony on two sides, high ceiling and skylights. At the same time, Tranen functions as a floating and integrated part of the library’s architecture and space.

Tranen offers the public the opportunity to meet and experience the versatility of contemporary art at a high artistic level. With a view to contemporary issues and themes, Tranen offers food for thought about contemporary art and culture and appeals to both children and adults.
