Galerie Caroline O’Breen, formerly Seelevel Gallery, aims on presenting current leading fine art photography from artists from the Netherlands and abroad.
We focus on engaged and conceptual photography based art and present pioneering and critical works from artists who explore and expand the diversity of the photographic medium. We thereby want to provide a platform for artists who focus on examining the transformations in function and meaning of the photographic image, and also in their elaboration are looking for a broadening of the medium. In this way photography can also function as a starting point or framework for multimedia installations, collages, sculptures and conceptual art.
Seelevel Gallery started in 2009 and is since June 2015 located in the city-heart of Amsterdam. The gallery is originally initiated by Manon Funcke and Caroline O’Breen and since 2015 continued by Caroline O’Breen and renamed to Galerie Caroline O’Breen.
Caroline O’Breen also works as a curator for photography and art exhibitions and as reviewer for the international online platform and magazine LensCulture. Beside she works as an art consultant for corporate art collections. She has taken part in different conferences and portfolio reviews for photography festivals in the Netherlands and abroad such as World Press Photo portfolio reviews and Rencontre d’Arles in France.
