The Maurice Verbaet Center is the largest and most significant private museum dedicated to modern Belgian post-war art (1945 – 1975 +). Housing an extensive and rare collection by diverse Belgian artists, it rightfully deserves a place of honour in the Antwerp art scene.
Located in the decommissioned Antwerp Water Works buildings, this unique privately-run museum, the culmination of years of fervent collecting by its owners Maurice and Caroline Verbaet, opened in September 2015. Upholding the belief that art connects people, the entrepreneurial couple invites a broad audience to (re)discover Belgian art produced during and after the period known as ‘Les Trentes Glorieuses’ (1945 - 1975).
