NAILS projectroom
is a place where young graduates from various German art academies can present their works and budding curators and art historians can gain experience in their future professional field. The projects will focus on the advancement of female artists and curators/art historians. Nails is a non-profit exhibition space and was launched by the art historian Maren Knapp Voith.

The space is intended to give graduates from art academies in Germany the opportunity to present their works in a young urban environment, and thus support them in their entry into professional life. In close proximity to established galleries and art collections, the space’s location ensures maximum presence and visibility in the vibrant Düsseldorf art scene.

Young art historians from Heinrich Heine University are to be involved in curating the exhibitions in order to gain practical experience and network with graduates and other important figures in the art scene. By connecting students and graduates of the art academy with art historians, the space is intended to function as an interface between theory and praxis.

The number of exhibitions that can be organized in the space is limited to a maximum of six per year. The exhibitions can be either solo or group exhibitions.
The selection of artists and curators depends on the needs of the space. In principle, all artists and curators are invited to submit their works and exhibition concepts to the director of the space. No conceptual, thematic, or other specifications will be made by the director at this point. However, the director reserves the right to assess the quality of each concept and its viability in the space.
