Renée Paule’s solo at KIOSK is an exhibition of multiple RP exhibitions.
In PR, selective exhibitions views in museum, gallery and open-air spaces are paired with custom ephemera, together profiling 5 different exhibitions. Exhibitions, or pictures, in which RP reckons with distinct artistic modes and scenes.
Picturing her own exhibition history – exhibition views are usually outsourced – became a strategy for RP to bypass the fake ceiling that is the prestigious artist CV, “respectable” if the exhibition list (whatever the exhibition) is lengthy, “impressive” if the exhibition views (whatever the work) are spotless.
If the ‘exhibition view’ has turned into a currency more coveted than the reproduced work, or even the work of art itself, in PR—and through PR—RP gives the people what they want; and more.
